Treat Flaky or Itchy Scalp

Flaky or itchy scalp often starts as a dry scalp which progresses to a micro biome issue that becomes itchy and red.  Often you feel like you need to wash your hair more frequently which can dry the scalp more and not be the relief you are after.  So what to do?

The shampoo is the first consideration. Cleaning the scalp effectively without causing more dryness is the first key to change.  A dry scalp with lingering surfactant and no oils will seperate and fray.  Our shampoo is made to be gentle and not too strong to cause dryness or separation.

Rinse well, that seems common sense, but if you have a scalp concern just rinse one more time.

You have a whole ecosystem of micro organisms that live on your scalp and you need them, they are beneficial and important.  You can’t see them but you can feel them if one of them starts behaving badly.  When the scalp is dry and flaky it provides a lovely warm, cozy, protected environment for some inhabitants and they start to move into those areas and create  a burgeoning neighbourhood.  Their numbers increase and they start to cause problems like waste management, fighting for resources and real estate just like us humans do.  The result? Your immune system gets involved and tries to bring their numbers down.  This is the redness and inflammation, the itching is the combat that ensues.  Your resident beneficial micro biome also gets involved to try to overcome the invaders.

The products on this page all assist with this condition and have been formulated to do so.  Use HydraLac two to three times per week.  Saturate scalp with it and leave to sit on the scalp for at least an hour.  Shampoo, condition, rinse well.  It is ok to reapply HydraLac just in the area needed, though it will make hair damp looking.  HydaLac provides relief from itching and makes the scalp smooth and flake free.
